Well,
If it did sell for 6K and was in Portland and now in NC he gets 12K for driving across country to get it, I need to get into that business.... Smitty

We're all always in the market for our next truck, looking for the perfect barn find and always curious as to what our existing truck might be worth so its an interesting discussion. Prices are definitely all over the place... The "reality" shows have sure made the market cloudy.

If the original asking price was 6K, buyer probably paid 4.5-5K. That's a great buy for that truck. 18K? Richard Rawlings is in Texas, Right? Quote:

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Being a LWB, that truck would doing good to go for $18,000 even if it was restored. Being a 50th and a BB adds value, but being a LWB will always keep the value lower.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
every truck like this that sells, and I'd include the Lambrecht trucks--not the pristine low mileage ones, but the good old trade ins that sat outside and sold for bigger $$s, increases the value of the trucks all of us own and cherish. Hope he gets it.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
It's funny how people always cry about the "undeserved" low value of the truck market, but yet crucify anyone who tries to sell something, for anything more than a firesale price!
Everything has value to someone. I never cared for the anniversary models, but from what I have seen on the board, they do have a strong following. Anyone that has ever restored something, knows that $18,000 doesn't go very far anymore. It will make someone a nice truck.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
I agree that the pricing IMHO should be in the $5-7k range in that condition and I definitely wouldn't pay that kind of dough for it.
However, if he is able to get his price, well thats nothing but good news for the rest of us and our truck values. Now, if I was chasing something along that year/model/etc...this is what I would consider in place of that truck: http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/4112863762.html One thing that is interesting about the original 18k ad is that he even used the original pics in his ad from that previous posting reference when it was on for 6K, which is kind of odd to me. ...my two bits. I like to buy and sell a few cars and trucks too, especially when I think I can make a little money and 'rescue' one to a good home. It helps me finance my own projects. I don't see anything wrong with that. Everybody I've sold an old car or truck to has been happy with it, and I still have a few collectors who call me when they're looking for something again. Nothing wrong with some good 'ol American commerce among the citizens. That said, I've never marked one up to over double what I got for, wow..but I still hope he gets it. These old trucks are still relatively cheap, and not only cool, but useful too.

Another bad choice of words, but in retaliation... If this truck belongs to a board member I'm sure he would agree.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
$18k is way too high, the guy with the $50k fake 68 is either a liar or an idiot and Leon is one of the classiest guys on this forum.
.....I believe that about covers it.

Re: $18,000.....really?.......REALLY?
Personally, I hope the guy gets it. There was a time when someone asking 18 grand for a big block '68 Chevelle was outrageous, but try buying one now.
