Need some advice on cams......

I cannot seem to find any threads on cams for ls engines. I've been searching this site for a week, searched ls1tech, and googled. I'm not sure if I'm just not looking in the right place or something like that. Anyway, we picked up a 2012 L96 6.0 and from what I've read this can be a pretty sweet engine with the right cam. I could really use some advice on what cams to consider, or just a link to a thread on this (if one exists...). Thank you.

Companies like Texas Speed, MAST both offer cam options for the VVT motors. A number of other manufacturers do as well. You can see what they offer in vvt cams (a touch more expensive to start, but you get to keep vvt and its benefits). OR you can swap over some hard parts like the timing cover and iirc reluctor wheel and cam sensor, and you can run a non-vvt cam. There is a lot of debate on the vvt vs non-vvt from a raw performance discussion.

Don't get hung up on googling L96, go back to ls1tech and take a look at the sponsors in the all motor and sponsor classified sections. You should have plenty of options to choose from a and a good amount of data to look through.

I personally would convert to a non vvt. You will need a timing cover, valley cover, lifters and treys, cam, head gaskets and head bolts to perform the conversion. I have done a ton I them on 2010+ camaros. Very simple to do.

We decided to just run the stock vvt setup right now. After reviewing the project it may turn into a turbo engine after a while, so for now we decided to just keep it stock. Thanks alot for the advice guy's.

if its going turbo....then id ditch the vvt.
