Re pop mirror issue
It there a quality re-pop mirror made and sold today? I bought a set of the sport mirrors from a reputable place at a very reasonable price. The problem is that when my son closed the door yesterday the whole mirror separated from the arm, fell on the floor and broke. I'm not placing the blame the vendor because he just selling them, and I'll go back to him again, mainly because he's good people. Is there anyone out there that has a replacement mirror/glass, or will I jaunt have to buy another?

Re: Re pop mirror issue
This is a problem many of us have faced, including myself. I was trailering a truck (my gmc profile photo) and when I gotto my destination, the mirror head on the pass side had fallen off during the trip, so it it laying on the side of the road somewhere. I have yet Find a solution short of oem/NOS mirrors. I have another set on the 72 swb step I am working one (different brand) but dont expect much from them. If they dont fall aprt theyll probably pit pike the last ones also did, sitting in the faage 24-7! I guess i am lucky to have found the nice original used set on eBay for $30 due to the scratched mirror portion (but very nice chrome!)

Re: Re pop mirror issue
Yeah, this low quality repop stuff really gets on my last nerve. Now I'm not one that needs to have everything looking like it just came out of the showroom ( I'm more of that used patina type) but I have the expectation of good money gets a good product. I'm going to try the suggestion of contacting the vendor. If he says sorry, he's still a stand up guy. I may just wait till I'm back in the states and go to the Food Lion Auto Fair in Charotte, get a factory mirror and be done with it.

Re: Re pop mirror issue
I bought these about a year ago from Brothers. The acorn nuts on the first set rusted after a month. They made it right and sent me a new set, and they have been great. These have been very sturdy, and I've had no problems

Re: Re pop mirror issue
Kudos to those reputable vendors who support us and stand by their name. The Truck Shop in Crossville Tn. I contacted them about my mirror falling apart, and they're sending me another mirror (really didn't expect it, but that's awesome!) also kudos to the administrators on this forum for their good judgement of character for the businesses that advertise here. It doesn't take much to do the Happy Dance but this did today. If only I could go for a drive in my truck to enjoy the moment, but that will have to wait til I get back Stateside.....

Re: Re pop mirror issue
I've bought 2 rectangle mirrors and a round mirror from Classic Parts. The acorn nut on the round mirror rusted as well but I kept the old one from the previous mirror. Still haven't switched them though lol.

Re: Re pop mirror issue
I'm not surprised The Truck Shop took care of it, Jerry's a stand up guy and very particular about the repop parts he sells.

Re: Re pop mirror issue
I think the problem with the repro sport mirrors (71-72 style) is the glass is just double stick taped in! Not sure how they would be originally but I doubt they used 2 way tape!
Had my passenger mirror bumped and the glass broke or I wouldn't have known. On the hunt for a replacement glass myself.
