Decoding Engine VIN
Alright, so I've searched the internet high and low, and decoded my NON-stock motor for my 67 C10 2wd. What I don't know is what my partial VIN means, and I would appreciate a second look over this, if any of you could set me straight.
As I translate, my engine block code (Drivers side, just forward of the trans) 14010207 350 80-81 Truck Light Duty 350 80-85 Pass,Malibu,Camaro 350 155-255 HP car & truck 2 & 4 bolt Engine Suffix Code V101OFND V= Flint, 1010= Oct 10, FND= 91 Chev 350 Truck Partial VIN CF4111670 (????) I understand the numbers, "111670" are the numbers from the original VIN, but what does the "CF4" mean? Does this mean I have a 80-85 model year block, with a 91 model year heads? Or am I reading something wrong? |

Re: Decoding Engine VIN
Scherpich, I have engine suffix code FND
as a, 1985 350, or a 1991 350, or a 1997 350. 10410207 engine block casting number, is 80-85 350 So your block is a 1985 350ci 160hp 4bbl. To confirm the year of the block you can check the date code. As far as the CF4111670, that is part of the Vin Number from the 1985 Chevy vehicle that the motor came out of. From the FND engine suffix code, I also have G-van as a possibility. If your motor came out of a G-van then C= Chevy truck F= 7001-8000 GVWR, 4= Two Door Cab If the motor came from a passenger car then I don't know what CF4 stands for. Hope this helps some.
