1963 bed swap options
My 63' Chevy C-10 originally had a short, step side bed on it. A previous owner removed and replaced it with a long fleetside bed. So my question is, what are my options as far as beds that will bolt up to my frame. I believe short fleetsides and short stepsides will both fit but what about the year range? Should I only be looking for 1960-66 bevy truck beds? Also, I didn't even notice it was the wrong bed until I went to put the bumper on and realized the brackets were about a foot too short. Felt like an idiot. Then I of course ran the VIN and saw the original bed was the short stepside. Appreciate any help!

Re: 1963 bed swap options
A '63-'66 bed will be a direct bolt on. A '60-'62 bed is basically the same, but the mounting points to the frame are spaced wider apart than the '63-'66's. That can be corrected without a lot of work, if you happen to find a nice '60-'62 bed. The '67-'72 beds would bolt on, but they are of a different body style. The 2nd design '55 to '59 stepside beds are basically the same, including the fenders, but I think the mounting will be a bit different. The '55-'59 fleetside beds are not very common and are a different body style than the '60-'66's. I don't know how that would look on a '60-'66.

Re: 1963 bed swap options
Thanks for the reply captain, all the info I needed! Got access to a good short bed off a 1970 but Im not sure how tacky and obvious that would look. Glad to hear it's at least an option. Tacky or not, it'll be nice to get a bumper on this thing.

Re: 1963 bed swap options
I'm wondering how the previous owner got the longbed to fit.
Did he cut it down in front of the wheel wells? Do you have any pics you can post?
