Rear disk kit
Anyone use this company or kit? Seems like a good price.

Re: Rear disk kit
I have heard nothing but good things about the eBay kit. It is complete with e brake too. A lot of these kits sold have calipers that have an e brake built in...BUT you are on your own when it comes to figuring out how to get the proper cables and route them to actually make the e brake WORK.

Re: Rear disk kit
Looking closer at the Classic Discount Parts kit is for 64-72 A Body, 67-69 F Body, 68-74 X Body. Not sure it will work for a Truck 12 bolt.

Re: Rear disk kit
Never done it on a truck, but adding rear discs to B-Bodies has been nothing but grief for me. Even with floating calipers the amount of slop allowed by a C-clip setup seems to really compromise the rear discs so that your brake effort first has to align the rotors within the calipers (or slide the calipers) before it does any actual braking.
That's the part I hate. Anyhow, unless you're building for a road course, towing, or show points, rear drums are all you'd ever need.

Re: Rear disk kit
Make sure to get a disc/disc proportioning valve.

Cool deal. $200 for booster/master/prop seems cheap

Re: Rear disk kit
You can get 5 or 6 lug from the ebay seller, he also has complete front+rear+boost kits for 1050+ shipping, or 1130 for the nickle plated booster.
I haven't tried them yet but a member by the name ' Pick ' said he ordered the 4 disc kit last week and is going to review them if anyone is interested. Here's some pictures from his build thread.

Re: Rear disk kit
What about sourcing the rear disc set up from a donor truck? Would that be a less expensive option? I don't recall what year model GM vehicles will interchange, but seems like I remember someone posting about it. Anyway, just a thought.

Re: Rear disk kit
here is a link to a rear set similar to ebay
http://www.autocityclassic.com/index...mart&Itemid=66 I got these at the Carlisle show. They bolt up fine but, as mentioned above, the ebrake doesn't come close to fitting even though they give you another ebrake cable. I also had to move the ebrake cable bracket on the trailing arm backwards to a pre-existing hole. 5 lug only I think. I think others have found the front brake setup off an Astro/Safari van fits the rear of our trucks. |
