Re-wiring a 49

Hi everyone,

I'm rewiring a 1949 3600. I've been following a wiring diagram, and i came up with a question. On the wiring diagram it says "All wires marked thus "(delta sign)" are for R.D. only". What is "R.D."? I'm trying to include a pic of the diagram as well. The truck starts and runs fine, and I'm attaching a pic of the starter as well. Also, why are there 2 starting motors pictured in the wiring diagram?

Thanks!

This is a picture of the "R.D." statement from the diagram.

Re: Re-wiring a 49

I noticed that the one picture has "Starter Motor RD" written in it. I'm no expert but it looks to me like the pictures are showing 2 possible starter set ups. 1 being the stock set up with the foot activated starter button and the 2nd being a modern starter configuration. I could be totally wrong on all counts, but the "RD" reference looks like it refers to the modern configuration, "Starter Motor RD". Could RD stand for "Remote Drive" or something along those lines?

Re: Re-wiring a 49

49 has a floor starter, no solenoid
r.d. is a special application.
maybe right drive, rear drive or some military specialty vehicle.
