I bought a used edelbrock 1405 (manual choke) off of ebay for about 100 bucks. I ned to rejet it but It starts easy and runs great as is.
I'll side with the popular opinion, you can set 'em & forget 'em. It's a great simple carb for a daily driver.

One downside, is that quadrajet will probably get you better mileage than the performer series (assuming that you can keep your foot out of it )
