Windshield woes...
Well, today we had our first notable snow fall here in my part of Washington state, and I made an unfortunate discovery as a result...
Water drips down both the right and left kick panels just under the dash of my '79 Big 10. My windshield, which has had a slight crack for just about forever, is probably the culprit, I am guessing. Just to be safe, I am thinking I should replace the glass and both the interior and exterior gaskets. The fellow at the glass shop who is going to do the glass replacement, however, and who owns one of these trucks himself, warned me that rain water leaks in these old Chevs often indicate rust problems with "spot welds" around the windshield. Just another example of the rust problems that afflict these vehicles, it seems. Anyone have any comments or experience with this? Ken Lewis |
