Headers and PS bracket
I bought a set of hooker competition headers. So now I have a problem with not having a power steering bracket that used to work with my stock manifolds. I remember swervin ervin (Mike) had a post or link about what he did to correct this problem. I cant find it though. I did look on his site but not all that hard.
Anyone have any ideas to fix this? I also looked at hookers accessory brackets and nothing looked like it would be able to work.

Made my own bracket out of flat stock, bent it to fit from the ps mount to the to the #1 header bolt. I have the Hookers also, works great! Made sure you use a good set of gaskets, I went thru 3 sets of different ones that kept leaking until I went to the aluminum ones. Never had a problem since.

Try a local fab shop. That is a easy part to make and will be reasonable to do.

just cut the ear off that mounts to the bolt on the stock manifold. you will also need a spacer, can use a sawzall or hacksaw....

Mine is done exactly like Mike's....Done the same thing on several different trucks without a problem....quick and simple....

sorry the ear i was talking about is on the A/c bracket, my PS bracket is just like mikes.

Mike I also bought those Edelbrock headers, does it come with everything I need or will I need to buy or fab something up?
Going to ask the girl friend for some exhuast components for Christmas to get this damn exhuast going. I have been sitting on it for awhile now.

So I guess I get to cut up my old bracket that works with the manifold? Or is that a different setup to what I have? Is there a store or something that I would be able to get the bar stock? I know I can use the alternator one but I don't have any of those. Im sure I can find something. This is my first time for headers so Im not broke in yet lol.

if you have A/C you have to cut off the ear that attached at the first bolt of the stock manifold. i took off my A/C compressor, there just happened to be a small tube spacer on there that worked PERFECT as a spacer for the power steering pump bracket.

Yeah it had an a/c but I took it off. That part your talking about reminds me I might have something here. I can see what you are talking about in Mikes pic. Just at first look it looks odd but I noticed it was bent a couple times.

On the bottom of the PS bracket you see in my pic, it had a part that stuck out and fastened to the AC bracket. I cut it off and smoothed it up. You can see this in my pic though. Just take the AC bracket part off and only use the part you see in the pic.
Eddie, no, there is nothing else you need if the headers you bought had everything that came with them. All you have to do is use your A.I.R. parts to go on the headers. They are designed to fit exactly on the stock exhaust. If you've changed something from stock, such as diameter or length, you will have to modify to fit. The headers themselves terminate at 3", at the collector. Then they have a reducer to go down to the 2-1/4" stock cat. Of course, on mine, I done away with the reducer and went straight out to the 3" cat. So in other words, they are real simple to install, especially if you are hooking straight up to the stock exhaust.

I forgot to add, you will need to use your heat riser valve, but I'm pretty sure they come with new gaskets for this. If not, I have part numbers for the gaskets you will need. This is the part I don't like about them. I wish I could do away with the valve. I have it gutted, but it reduces the inside diameter at the valve. No way to hook them up without it unless you could make another piece to take up the slack. I thought about taking mine to a machine shop to see if they can drill out the inside bigger.
