WHEN is it time for new paint???

This is something that's been burning in my brain for quite some time now and I'm just curious what you guys think about this matter.. I've had my paintjob for about 12 years now and it's actually decent still for a frequently driven truck, but it's just getting to the point now where it's not "show condition" anymore and more like a decent daily driver with chips and scratches and small dings here and there... Which is fine. I love daily drivers, beaters and work in progress trucks more so than trailer queens, NOT rat rods. But I'm wondering, when IS it time for a new coat of paint??? You can comment, joke, upload pics, whatever! ANY THOUGHTS would be great...

Re: WHEN is it time for new paint???

My paint is falling off here and there but I still get "Cool Truck" pretty much everytime I drive it. Guess it boils down to what your happy with. Got the cash, got the time? Paint it.

When you don't like the look of it anymore! Understand your thoughts, there is quite a difference between cool patina, and normal wear and tare on a good paint job

Post some pics of it, maybe you just need to take it in for a full on buff job. Color sanding and buffing might just make it seem as fresh as the day it was done.

Re: WHEN is it time for new paint???

for me, if you think it needs new paint, then it needs new paint if you have the money for it...sometimes I think the one I just painted this summer needs new paint, only because I know all the flaws in it..

Sometimes you have to paint to rid the rust and protect your sheet metal, You can wet sand the scratches out, buff and polish if paint (or clear coat) is still there.
