fusible links, as stated, are a smaller wire than primary being used. for example, a 14 gauge wire would use a 16 or 18 gauge wire about 3" long. can be located most anywhere within length of wire. this keeps power shorts contained so the whole system is not destroyed. check smaller wire that runs from positive battery cable to junction box for one location that can shut everything down,
