Re: Rear window install
i think so because when install back glass you need to put seal around glass before installing in the cab at least that is how i had to install mine. if you doother way you could break the glass

Yes you do. it has been noted that the chrome strip in the rubber cab be real difficult to install. I went from slider to flat glass with a new rubber snd chrome strip and took the truck to my local pro-glass shop to have it installed. I have found that sometimes its better to let a pro do certain jobs.

Re: Rear window install
I did a rear slider to solid glass install last week. I did the cord in the rubber trick and it was fairly easy. I ordered my new rubber from brothers. You can get standard or deluxe with the chrome for the same price. here is a how to link on the install.

Re: Rear window install
Yes, you need to remove the gasket, trim and window all at the same time. Using a hook tool like in the picture below helps out a lot. A cotter pin extractor tool will work too, but not as good as these hook tools. Don't use any metal tools against the glass, they are for hooking the rubber over the pinchweld on the cab. In the video, it shows them using plastic sticks to pry the gasket over the pinchweld. This method will work, but not nearly as good as a hook tool. The plastic sticks are generally used for working the window into the gasket, hence no metal touching the edge of the glass. The back windows in these trucks are way easier to remove and install than the windshields are.

Re: Rear window install
If your not re-using the gasket, just take a sharp utility knife and cut through it on the inside and pop the whole thing out. Then you can easily remove the trim and gasket from the slider frame.
Try installing the glass yourself! It's very easy to do even with trim. I had mine in within minutes.

Re: Rear window install
Yes, installing a back glass using a piece of clothesline was too easy. A warmer day is better because it will make the gasket more pliable, especially if using an older gasket. And, it never hurts to have a little soapy water solution on hand just in case you run into a little bind.
