5.3 swap
May be picking up a 5.3 and a 4l60e soon. What all will I need to swap it into my 87 r10? And what kind of headaches can I expect?

Re: 5.3 swap
wiring harness ecm and motor mounts are two must. im pretty sure you need aftermarket ac brackets and some fuel tank mods if you want dual tanks too. idk from there ppl will chime in though.

Re: 5.3 swap
what year is it out of? you will have to cut some odds and ends off the harness of stuff you dont need. idr what all. also what all do you want in the old truck. is it going to have ac and cruise? ls1tech is the best place to get all the info you need. idr all you need but its not a hard swap. ive not had a ls powered veh in 9 years so i have forgot so much about ins and outs and swaps.

Re: 5.3 swap
If you are getting Fuse block and all, check this guy out. I've done this on 3 different swaps and its worked out fantastic!
http://lt1swap.com/underhoodfuseblock.htm He explains how to use the fuse block etc. Its very simple and looks clean when done. If you have a 700R4 or 350TH your drive shaft should still fit ( splines will work ) you may want to do some measuring to get the correct placement of the engine and trans to keep from having the added expense of having a shaft made. Read read read, there are so many ways to do this. But I can speak from experience, you will be glad you did it! Good Luck!
