wanting to run 33s in the future again
ive been looking at a truck lately for a new addition its a 1994 chevy Silverado k2500 and I was wondering what size lift I should do and whether it should be a body or suspension lift to run 33" tires on the stock 16" rim and which would essentially be I guess easier since this will be my first lift kit install or which one will perform better and better ride since this will be a work truck and will end up offroad

Re: wanting to run 33s in the future again
What 33" do you want? The only ones I recommend using on stock rims are 285/75s,255/85s,33/9.50s,and maybe 33/10.50s. If you have the heavy 2500 with 8-lugs you won't need any lift. You can crank the torsion bars up enough (without issues) for those sizes. The lifts for IFS trucks are just an expensive and labor intense way to space a stock suspension down from the frame. That's all you gain.

Re: wanting to run 33s in the future again
I was thinking 33x12.50r16 but I also figured I could always run a aftermarket rim and no its a 6 lug

Re: wanting to run 33s in the future again
For those trucks there used to be a lift with lift spindles, torsion bars, and longer control arms that was a suspension improvement and an actual suspension lift. You didn't have to drop the whole front end out to only end up with 4" of spacer brackets. they were even cheaper than the drop brackets. I can't recall who made them or if they still do. With aftermarket/wider wheels you can expect the tires to stick out past the body. You'll probably want wider flares.

Re: wanting to run 33s in the future again
yeah, IFS lift kits are expensive, & unless your going full on racing, they don't have hardly any travel.
since my money goes in my crew, i went the cheap route to fit 285/75-16 (33x11.5) BF M/T's on my '90 K1500. used t.bar keys, still rubbed a bit, cranked the bars an inch. slightly rubs the mud flap with the wheel hard over & hit a big hole, other than that, no probs using this set-up for 12 yrs did put add a leafs in the rear to level it out-should have used blocks though all told, around $150 |

Re: wanting to run 33s in the future again
I was looking at i think skyjacker n saw they have a 3" body lift or a 4" supsension lift which one you guys think would perform better for 33s since in theory the body lift only gives you ground clearance from whatever tires you pair with it while suspension lift gives ground clearance by itself plus from whatever tires you pair with it

If you use your bed to haul i would stay away from a body lift. The suspension lift will cost more up front but better in the long run.

Definitely 4" suspension and wider wheels to run 33/12.50's. That is the best look IMO.
