2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

I've got a set of seats out of a 2000 Chevy, the ones with the seat belts in the shoulder of the seat, and a center console out of a 2013 Chevy (which is the same width as the center console from the 2000 Chevy).

I can post pics tomorrow, but I have a couple questions.

My thoughts are that I will be able to use my factory bench seat mount and attach both seats and the center console with some sort of mounting tabs to the original brackets. However, I have never done the seat swap before and was hoping someone who had would be able to chime in.

Either way, I'm positive I'll be able to figure something out... just hoping to have a little inside knowledge to avoid possible hiccups.

Anyways, here is a picture of the truck in question... since I know how much everyone loves pics here!

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

Ok, so I was able to find the pictures today. So, here are the seats and center console in question. BTW, I LOVE the lockable storage under the seat in the newer center console and the fact that the cup holders are in the center console and not in the way of the transfer case shifter. Hope you enjoy!

yes you just use a your old seat brackets. be aware your seats arent as wide as the old one and still set up higher.

You cant just use your old brackets. Those seats have integrated slides/bracketry that ties into the structure of the seats.

Your looking at fabbing the seats to fit the truck, or the truck to fit the seats.

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

you can cut the brackets off and drill holes to bolt it onto old sliders. still not the best setup. ford seats are better in these trucks due to its raised floors.

This doesn't look to be overly sturdy, but they are in there, and look nice!

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

Ya, there's no way I'm drilling new holes in the floor. The original brackets will have to do depending on how much higher the seats sit. Ill remove the new seats from their bracketry and make some mounting tabs that will allow me to bolt them down to the orginal brakets.

I suppose Ill be able to figure it out when I get home, but you wouldn't happen to know how much narrower the new seats are by chance? Hopefully not by much and I could just space out the seats slightly to split the difference....? Thoughts?

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

Oh, that's not too bad. I can live with that.

At any rate, you guys can tell I have charcoal seats and a tan console on the way. Any chance you guys have a line on a set of oem seat covers for the 01 chevy to make them match the console?

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

Well, I could dye the console... but I'd prefer for the interior to be the color of the console. My door panels, dash, and trim pieces are already tan.... So it will be much more cost effective to find an appropriate / good fitting cover as opposed to changing to a different interior color.

Plus, I want it to be tan.

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

I guess I'm not very familiar with the process of dying... I didn't think it was an option to dye cloth... but that very well could be the route I take. Thanks a lot for the input guys. I appreciate it.

Re: 2000 Chevy Seats in my 86 Silverado

I've got the exact same setup in my 87.. The nicer seats found in 99 newer v8's and the console out of a 2008 or 09 as pictured. Fits nice but custom brackets. In a nut shell uses the 87 slider, square tubing ontop welded to it or bolted forgot.. The. The bucket bottom bolted to the square tubing. Then cut the seat back tabs off and welded them to the square tubing.. I don't have recline feature.. I would have had to notch the floor and not something I wanted to do since the gas tank is right under the area I needed to notch.. Measuring the factory 2000 style seat spacing is what was key in fitting well.
I'm using the 87 seatbelts

Nice to hear someone shares the same taste. Anyway, any particular reason you decided to stay with the factory seat belts? Seems so simple to just use the shoulder belt built into the seat... just curious

mostly since i didnt use the factory 2000 style seat frame and its facotry style bolt to the chassis. the factory rail it sat on makes it really high and im 6'6" and would not have been comfortable in my own truck. the way i did it is great, head room and everything. plus the truck seat belts were designed that way and didnt want to mess up the only saftey system in my truck...
