I may be an odd ball, but I like the old wagon rims also. Not my squarebody, but I used them on my 02 DD with factory center caps. I really like the look...especially since it is a white truck.

Thanks guys, I sure wish I could find a set that was drilled for the factory center caps.

79 Chevy Sport with factory wheels.....

The GM wheels have a distinctive cutout for the holes ...and provision for the factory 3 bolt caps

RPO PA6 ...option cost 181.00 in 1980 ....rallys were only 90.00

Re: anyone here running the factory 5 lug wagon wheels?

Here is my 4x4 with the PA6 styled wheels. I would think the 5 lug styled wheels are much harder to find.

It is a 79 chevy sport stepside that is the same color as 80Sports Fleetside above, but mine does not look nearly as good as his.

It was a $181 option in 1980.
It was a $170 option in 1979.

Re: anyone here running the factory 5 lug wagon wheels?

nice, I have a set of 6 lug factor wagons in my shed, but cant find the 5 lug. What year did these come out?....78?

Looking at some old adds I found, they have the wagon wheels without the rally style centercaps in the pics. They have the reg push thru from back center caps.....was this a dealer installed set or what?

Re: anyone here running the factory 5 lug wagon wheels?

the first year I show a listing for the PA6 styled wheels is 1977

Part # was 462384 ....code on wheel was AH,BT or CT

Next part # shown is 469654...code CT

And then 457710....code CR,BU

These are all 15 x 8 ....5 lug

The same wheel on a van was 15x7 ...they look the same but offset is different and they are 1 inch narrower

I think the ones shown in the ads are aftermarket as they are talking about the diesel ...first year 1978.

If you are looking at a wheel and want to see if it is original all the GM wheels should have a production date and a code on them.

They were quite common when the trucks were new but were often replaced with aftermarkets when they got rusty

Last good set I picked up came on a tired 1980 ....bought the whole truck for 400.00 ....I called when I saw the picture of the truck with the wheels...it was on kijiji...turned out to have a factory tach as well

Re: anyone here running the factory 5 lug wagon wheels?

The mid 70's was the turning point for pickups used as personal sport type vehicles. People who never owned pickups before, were now buying them in huge numbers. Even the factory wanted to get in on the trend and offered the custom wheel look to cut out the middleman. You will never find factory ads with custom wheels pre mid 70s's.

You can get a similar wheel in 6, 7, 8, and 10 inch widths for pretty cheap brand new. The spokes aren't exactly the same but they look close enough to the untrained eye. The spokes are simply cut to shape, whereas the GM version has an inward bend stamped in. The spokes also have a more triangular shape, whereas the GM version has a spoke that maintains its width from the center to the rim. You will also have to drill your own holes for the rally center cap as well. The aftermarket versions are not rare at all.

The GM version with stamped spokes and the holes for the center cap seem to be very rare though, I have never seen one in person.

Funny thing is, in the last ad shown above where it says "showing off your new diesel pickup," that truck has the aftermarket wagon wheels on it.

Re: anyone here running the factory 5 lug wagon wheels?

John, how big of a hurry are you in? My dad lives about 60 miles from those wheels on CL. I might be able o get them picked up, but I don't know how long it would take to get them from him. I will see them sometime this year, but I think he is convinced I-35 only runs north. They never come down here.

Thanks, ya I looked at those from summit, pro comps didnt have stripes and would be a close match. If I used those I could always run a GM centercap thats helod on with those black plastic lug covers....hmmm

All those trucks in the ads have aftermarket wheels, none have the bolt on GM centercap so ya its strange.
