Question Lift determination

Anybody know what the distance was between the center of the hubs and the top of the fender well arches, from and rear, on a stock '72 K20 Custom Camper? I'm trying to determine how much suspension lift my truck actually has. There's no body lift. Too many P.O.s and not enough info.

My restoration pack for 1969 trucks should be pretty close, but no guarantees that dimensions stayed exactly the same, rather than try to explain the dimensions I will just post the pic for you to go by.

Thanks, Yukon. I have the resto pack, too, but the dimensions there don't take into account tall tires. I was looking for a shortcut that takes tire size out of the equation. I guess I'll have to do some math. I suspect I have a 4" lift back aft because of the 4" spacer blocks under the rear leaf springs. I can't really tell what I've got up front. It could be 2", there are 2" extenders on the bump stops, but I have no idea what one of the POs was thinking. The truck does have a slight bit of rake to it. My hub center-to-fender arch distance measures 28" both front and rear.

I just bought a book called 69-81 Blazers. Haven't read it all the way through but I remeber seeing some measurements I think it was ground to bottom of front diff. if that helps let me know and I will look again.

The rear pic has the ground to bottom of dif measurement so that should help you. Good luck.

The distance between the hubs and the fenderwell will not change with different size tires

But that distance does change with a lift. That is my question. I'm going to be in the market for new shocks soon, and since I'll need 8 of them, I'd like to shop for the right ones, length and travel-wise, the first time. Would be good to know exactly how much lift my truck actually has. Since I have no history on what lift kit is in it (except for the Superlift sticker inside the glove box door), I have no idea what a PO installed.

i just measured mine, 71 K20, no lift and only 80000 miles, so springs should be in good shape. From the center of the back hub (i don't have the front fenders on yet) to the top arch of the back wheel well measures 23 1/4 inches.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Thanks, David, that helps. Only 80K original mi on a 71? Wow! I should be so lucky. Let me know when you get the front fenders on.

Dunno if this will help you at all; just checked the fronts of my 72 K20 with 2 1/2" softride springs - 25 1/4" from hub center to wheel arch. Didn't check the rears because of add-a-leafs in the rear spring packs.

Yeah, Stocker, that helps. I have 28" hub center-to-wheel arch, for both front and rear. Your front measurements tell me I have a 4" lift up front, not the 2" or 2 1/2" that I thought. Griesel72's rear measurements confirm my 4" lift in the back.

Thanks, guys.
