1978 k10 4 wheel drive issue

i got stuck coming out of a alley and the 4 lo took a minute to kick in, it kinda acts like its slipping ever occasionally . the skinny is its a th350 with a np203 behind a 454, even out of 4 wheel it kinda feels like its slipping, is it the tranny or what? just looking for advice on what it may be i am kinda worried about the old gal :/

Check the trans fluid is it full and what color is it?

its full and red like it should be , could the pan seal leaking be causing it? or a in need of a filter change?

There is no in between with the transfer case so your trans must be slipping. My K20 has a delay going into gear but once it kicks in it is fine. When was your fluid and filter last changed?

yup check fluid,203 is a chain ,but still won't lead to much of a delay there
I kind of a clunk into 4X4 and i go
