springrates/ifs
Buying a Speedway ifs with coil overs and 2in. dropped spindles, getting conflicting info on spring rates, don't want to cut springs, want low look smooth ride. do different manufacturers have different characteristics:spring height/rates.I'm putting a 307 /turbo 350 maybe ac latter. Thanks

Re: springrates/ifs
I recommend you read this discussion thread, before automatically ordering the dropped spindles.

Re: springrates/ifs
you don't say what truck you are building (look at the link in my sig)
but dropped spindles on my 58 would make it un-streetable

Re: springrates/ifs
Talked to speedway they said their kit with stock spindles will lower truck 3 to 4 in. and use 700 lbs. springs. that's what I want,.going with their recommendation .Thanks for heads up

Re: springrates/ifs
I installed 375 lb springs and you MUST cut them for your application, but don't worry because upper perch on the bolt on Speedway crossmember has 2 inches of height adjustment by way of threaded adjusters--really cool feature

Can these springs still be cut with coil over application.

Re: springrates/ifs
Guys where not taking apples and apples here. The stock springs at 350# are approx 13" or longer with the shock thru the center. A coil over spring is only about 8" long. Is large at the top to fit the stock upper hat. The lower end is about 2-1/2" in dia. to fit the collar on the shock. It takes a higher # weight on the short spring to hold up the weight. I have 600# coil over springs in mine with QA1 shocks. I was told by QA1 that I should use 700# with mine, I already had the springs so I didn't, but 700# would be better. In the Speedway book it tells you if your front end weights approx. or over 1700# use the 700# springs. Just my .02 cents worth....Jim
