I want to order some 18" coys...

So like the title states. I want to put on some 18" coys for my truck. Naturally I want the widest fattest tires a can. I've been searching and found 5" backspace for the back and 4.5 for the front is pretty common. Is this the absolute max before scrub line issues?
Also there's a lot of typos on the coys wheel site so I'm taking everything on there with a grain of salt. Would like to try some 255s up front and 275s in rear
I'm currently 6-8 drop but plan to go lower still with modular spindles up front and a pancaked crossmember with 1"taller lower ball joints. Should be good for 7-9 haha

With the newer fenders, you might be asking for trouble going that low in the front without mods to or losing the inners.

Re: I want to order some 18" coys...

taller lower ball joint. i should look into that, increase camber gain when cornering and doesnt really drop the roll center. not t mention a little bit of drop all on top of that. neato. you can jam 275's in the front with the wheels just into the wheel well. might as well do 295 on the rear. but i dont know what they have for 18. oh fleetsides have bolts that can rub on the tire huh. carriage bolts and a panhard......and 305. hmmmmmmm

you have these guys? pretty shnazzy http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ha...ckup/year/1974

re-re-re-re-re-edit: didnt find some that already had a .5" taller ball joint. so thats $80 for 2 ball joints and $40 for 2 +.5" studs. yikes. but i probably dont need to replace the uppers. i wouldn't think they would wear as fast

I'm planning on raising the inner fenders for this. Or just grin and bear it haha.

How tall of a tire are you wanting? Most 295-305 tires for 18s are under 26 inches tall.

Well I'm going to order some bfg g force sport comp IIs mine are about 26.5 right now and I would end up with 25.5 tall with the new setup. So not a huge difference.

That'd be cool, have you seen the Nitto INVOs? Amazing tire and they have the perfect sizes
255/40/18 front and 295/35/18 rear. 26 inches tall front and rear. When you get your 18s id love to stop by and check it out, ive never seen 18s in person and im torn between 18 and 20s right now

That's why I can't wait till my returns come in. It will be all spent in less than two minutes haha
As for nitto tires I'm sure they are great tires but I much prefer American made tires for my US made truck.
