The Mrs has completed some other designs/ideas.

The BBQ version will have a centered 32" cooking surface area with 18" of prep area on both sides. Cooking will be done from the back, like standing at the counter. The hood will open hinged at the front and supported with gas struts on both ends. Can be either gas or charcoal grille. Smoke will exit thru pulling truck style headers thru the hood.

She'll get drawings up of these later. She's been working real hard designing these things, and it's funny, I didn't think she'd be into it that much. LOL!

Here's the update for the past week:
Stand/frame finished up, ground smooth and prepped.
Media blasting done
Bodywork done, primed, wet sanded w/320 sealed and wet sanded again w/600
Painted the black inset, then the white grille surround
4 coats of Competition Red lacquer
4 coats of clear
Will paint the stand tomorrow and assemble both pieces on Friday. Saturday the countertop and shelf get installed along with the wiring.
Decided the white painted grille and bumper will look better.
Final clean up and deliver on Monday the 10th into a trailer headed to a NYC toy trade show.

I did forget to mention, but as most have seen, this particular one is a ChevMC, being as we used what we had parts wise, and I didn't have a GMC grille at the time.

Here's a few pics from assembly day. We had mentioned in the first write up that this would have a chrome grille, bumper and bumper guards. Well......the customer saw a truck with everything white and liked it. So....we media blasted an extra grille we had, tack welded the headlight buckets to the brackets since all the adjusters were broken, painted everything up and here it is. I think they made a good choice. Need to install the correct bumper bolts. Installed the LED lighting in the turn signals. There will be new clear lenses installed. To be more of an attention getter, we wired the headlights thru a 552 HD flasher, then to a ceramic voltage reducer. The result: low voltage sealed beam lights that will not blind anyone.The look is authentic and with the them flashing slowly, it draws attention. We also installed a keyed "On-Off" switch that looks like an ignition switch. It'll keep unwanted hands from playing with the lights. All of this is powered by a small 120V to 12V power supply, or can be connected to a deep cycle AGM battery. Will be installing the formica countertop and shelf tomorrow.

Ok, this one is signed, sealed and on it's way to NYC for a toy manufacturer's trade show. This was the deadline to make for my customer. It'll arrive on Sunday for the opening day.
For this show, we temporarily installed a 12V battery to operate the lights. when it returns to it's permanent home, we'll install the 120V to 12 V converter. For a little more auto feel, we installed a key "on-Off" switch and a push-pull headlight switch. The LEDS are controlled by the little black box above those on the control panel. As a novelty, we also connected a power outlet and a speaker, so he could use his PA/horn/siren system.

Pretty happy with it and already on to the next one.....
We are taking orders for these and the BBQ's or smokers. PM for details.

On display in NYC at a toy expo. Show opened Sunday and runs until Thursday. The reports are it is a hit with several of the other vendors there.

What a great concept. Well worth the wait! Beautiful execution, and neat that the parts weren't worth restoring for a real truck.
