Pic's of stepside air tank install's

Hey guy's. I have a 5gal air tank that I'm having a hard time deciding on a mounting location for under my step side bed. I don't want it to be visible if possible. Any Pic's of your underbed stepside tank installs would be appreciated. Thanx

I am in on this. This is my next project too. I was thinking maybe under the bed where the spare tire would be. My tank is still in the cab.

Well I do not have a stepside but here is how we mounted my air tank on my 66 Fleetside (swb)

drivers side front just under the cab, brackets of course mounted to frame....

Thanx for the reply. That's where I'd like to put it but unfortunately the step of the stepside is right there so it don't work.

I'm thinking in the back behind the relocated gas tank and rear bumper but not sure if its doable since the bed is on horses at the moment. might be a tight fit.

I’m not familiar with air tank mounting, but is that something that would fit in the space where I have my mufflers mounted, in front of the axle:




They are not easily seen with the tires on the ground.

I'm not sure the difference between body styles but I'm faced with this issue myself on my '67 stepper. I looked into under the door like above pic from forestb shows. If my measurements are correct, the tank will hang down below the frame slightly. I could be wrong or your truck may have more room.

It seems one of the best spots is where the spare tire goes unless you are either planning on keeping the spare or install a under-bed gas tank. I'm planning on doing the latter. My "plan" now is trying to use the Porterbuilt tubular rear crossmembers and mount the air tank on the back crossmember between it and the rear bumper. Haven't seen or heard anyone doing that but if my measurements are correct it "should" work but may be slightly visible from the back. We will see.

Yea mine seems to be a little bigger of a tank at 5gals and would be visible below the rocker

already have the underbed tank so behind it and between the bumper is where I was thinking. I was just hoping someone else had done it so I could see if it looks good or not before I start hacking up new mounts and all. seems like everyone with a stepside mounts their tanks in the bed.

not enough room for the tank I'm running and to many variables with moving trailing arms and drive shaft. but thanx for the Idea..

Bagging my stepper but I have the huge notch in the rear so it opens up all kinds of opportunities.... so I guess it depends on how low do you go...
