home brewed coilover conversion (new guy)

Hello my names kevin im new. Love the site. I have a 67 chevy truck that im finally ready to start on. Ive been collecting parts forever. Problem is my dad built it in the early 90s and the rear suspensions all wrong. Cut springs and no shock relocators. I have a set of afco adjustable coilovers I would like to use. The tires on it now are 33/19.5. I will be going with a set of 31/18 so there is a little more room between tires and frame. So lets see your homebrewed coilover connversions. Every thing I find pics of seems to be a kit. Im especiallyIinterested in dj racers as I have seen pics off it before but cant seem to find them now. Thanks

By the way all the trucks on here are awesome

Re: home brewed coilover conversion (new guy)

Thats pretty well how I wanna do mine. Right now its got a 355and a 4speed. Eventually id like to go with a carbed 6.0 and 4 speed with hurst ramrod my dad just dropped off. We had it in a 68firebird back in the day and loved it. We will see. I also have a buddy that builds bigblocks and keeps tryin to talk me into one so could go either direction. Love ur truck by the way

You have some nice fatties on your truck. Just like what I want to eventually put on my 1970 chevy swb truck.

They are actually to wide to air down. 19.5 " im goin with 18" wide so I have some air down room if that makes sense lol

Re: home brewed coilover conversion (new guy)

I put coil overs on mine. I dont have a picture on my phone but the placement is very close to where Ricksrat has his. I used a kit from S&W with 50/50 shock and brakets making up the coil over. I used 140# springs. it could use a little more spring The 150s probably would have been perfect.
