HELP!!!!!! Can't open door!!! 1964 Chevy c20.
Just bought a truck, based on pictures. Get it towed home. Get the motor going. About the start working on the brakes, but couldn't get in.
It was blocked in so I kept going in through the passenger side. Handles moves mechanisms. Door panel off, wd40 the latch area. Used brut force and nothing. Any tips or tricks? |

Might try a floor jack with a block of wood under the rear cab corner and gradually raise while you pull on the door handle...worked for me when I couldn't get out and had to crawl out the stinkin' window.

Re: HELP!!!!!! Can't open door!!! 1964 Chevy c20.
Ran into a similar thing when I was adjusting the door striker. Got it locked up.
I used a pry bar between the rocker and rear lower door area and carefully lifted the door while pulling on the door hand (button pushed in of course). Got it to finally pop open and I was able to readjust the door striker. Basically the striker put enough pressure on the release wheel that it would not allow the release linkage to allow the "star wheel" roller to move.

how about taking the inner door panel off and using a device to actuate the lock mechanism?

I know when I had the problem, I did pull the door panel off and worked the mechanism but it would not release fully. I had to get the load off the star roller to get it to release and that could only be done with lifting the door slightly.
