Stall converter necessary??
Pre mature question maybe but Id like to hear opinions. 383 stroker install will be done in a couple of days. Im wondering if I should have bought at least a mild stall. Approx 400hp w .495/500 lift roller. I like to 'get it on' but wont be going to drag strip. I admit the 'cool factor' can influence my decisions. (if ridiculous or complete waste[IMG][/IMG] of money I can fight off the 'cool factor"). What rpm stall do pure stock, from the factory th350's have? Im saving for a new tranny, wonder if even a stage 2 type 350 is necessary? My son cutting 2 coils. Even he thought it looked like too much, and this is the first time hes ever seen a coil spring lol (MPG I dont care about)[IMG][/IMG]

Re: Stall converter necessary??
I think the stock stall could be anywhere from 1200 to 1500 rpm depending on motor.
You'll be much happier with a 2500 to 2800 rpm stall. Will make it much easier to tune your motor. Not as much drop in rpm when you put it into gear. And easy to put one in now. |
