Another frame swap ?
Searched, but was unable to find an answer.
Considering using a 2wd frame from a '74 C20 under a '74 K20 - AND putting the '74 4x4 running gear back under it. Any help on this appreciated..........

Re: Another frame swap ?
there is a couple of swaps like that in the -All 4x4 Tech & Off Roading- section. it basicly involves swaping all suspensions brackets , hump floor depending if manual or auto, drilling the hole to install the front swing shackle and more..but its doable

Re: Another frame swap ?
I think the 10 series used different frames from the 20 & 30 series... but I'm not positive.

Re: Another frame swap ?
There is a distinct difference in frames on the C30 vs K30 135.5 inch wheel base cab and chassis frames. On 10 series I'm not sure. 20 series, I think if the wheel base is the same the frame is the same, however the suspension (front and rear) and hangers are different.

Re: Another frame swap ?
I just finished swapping the body from a C20 to a K20 frame.
The body is the same except for the High hump, but the brackets can be done easily enough. Just take your measure twice, and cut once. The main difference I see is the K series frame is flat on top to help hold the engine mount bracket. At this point I would consider 52 inch springs, and or another type of front suspension if you ever wanted it. As it would just as easy to do now. |
