Well, after going through some of the old paper work I have on my engine, I forgot it "has" only around 3k miles on it. I've decided to just run it in stock form for a while and just get it on the road ASAP. This brings me to another question...

The engine has been sitting in my friend's garage since '06-07. Other than a filter/oil change, what else should I do in prep for the first start up?

Sitting that long there's a very good chance your injectors are going to be stuck. I would take them out and clean them or have them cleaned by someone.

I think I'm going to have my harness made with the EV1 plugs and buy a set of car injectors anyway. So I'll be good there.

I flip flopped again. I'm going to do the cam swap since the engine is easy to get to. I had Patrick G spec a cam for me and will send the specs to EPS to get ground.

Got my cam specs...

216/222 .604”/.604” 112 LSA +2 advance w/ PAC 1519 springs

Thoughts from the gurus here?

Not overly aggressive, seen similar used on some 5.3's
The 112 will give you the chug chug you want, even tho the lift itself isn't crazy.

Its what I would reference as a "cali-cam" aka what yall can get away with without driving the smog stuff crazy. You won't get crazy gains on the 6l, but I'd think you can scrape mid 330ish. Obviously the rest of the setup, drivetrain loss, and dyno could make that estimate way off, but for a hot cam on a 6L those expectations aren't out of the ordinary.

Yeah, my priorities were for the torque curve to be as flat as possible and favor under the curve power over top end power.
