70 C10 disc brake conversion help needed

Hi,
I have a stock 1970 CST/10 big block. Awesome motor, but heavy for braking! I need to put disc brakes on it.

I just picked up a front end clip from a "Heavy Half" 1995 blazer. I believe it is known as "Heavy Half" anyways, and does have the 6 lugs. The "A" arms look different, prob. won't work, but will the spindles and disc brakes?

Does anyone know if this clip can help me at all?

Thanks!

Probably not. After all of the machine work and custom parts it would be cheaper to buy a kit.
There's a faq section on disc brake swap questions showing the stuff that interchanges between 64-88

Don't do it!! I used 88-98 spindles and there are alignment problems and after rebuilding all the parts that needed it, I wish I would have just bought the kit. You will brake even or come out ahead if you buy the kit and have far less headaches

If you want to use factory spindles you can use the 73-87 but they will take you to 5 lug. you will also need to use the ball joints and tie rod from they same years.

Re: 70 C10 disc brake conversion help needed

You can use all gm stuff like the 6 lug rotors and spindles and the 68 lower control arms use the newer ball joints and tie rods and then the calipers and all of the stuff will work. But I have gathered all of these parts well just from not throwing junk away cause I have a 95 3/4 ton that I junked and had the whole front suspension. the problem is when you build the truck it all looks and fits together real good and everything gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling then when you get farther along on the project and get it on the road, take it to get a front end aliginment it can't be done it is too far out of spec to get close with shims. Nobody on here that I have heard of that has used this set up has been able to get the steering lined out that I know of, it may have happened while I was sleeping but I just think your better with some aftermarket of the shelf stuff.
