Search the threads there are quite a few addressing this issue. The one I found most helpful is titled "Dana 44 closed knuckle disc brakes" by danw210
If your are committed to keeping the original axle it can be done. With that said the quickest least expensive way is to do the post 71 open knuckle swap. Travel well, Bruce |
