Heater hose question
I've searched and not found anything. I need to know which hose goes where on my heater hoses. I have an outlet on my radiator and want to use it. I've had this truck apart for 8 years and I forgot where some things go.
Thanks for any help. |

Re: Heater hose question
The smaller (5/8" ID) hose is the feed to the heater core. It attaches to a fitting on the intake manifold (V8) or to the lower thermostat housing (inline-6).
The larger (3/4" ID) hose is the return from the heater. It attaches to either the port on the water pump or to the radiator. |

Re: Heater hose question
Just to add to ray's info.
5/8 to bottom of heater core. 3/4 line out the top of heater core. |

Re: Heater hose question
I believe the original configuration, if it matters, is the manual transmissions routed the return line to the water pump, the automatic transmissions routed the return line to the radiator. But I doubt you would run into any problems swapping those configurations, I don't think running the return to the water pump would significantly shorten the life of your automatic transmission.

Re: Heater hose question
Thanks for the replies. That's a big help. I've already had the hoses hooked up, and now they are too short. So I'll just wait until cold weather to connect it.
