Standard wheel arch height on a '66 Short Fleet?
Some great stance and lowering on various builds.
I have a '66 Short Fleetside which has been lowered with heated cools etc a long time ago. THREAD HERE: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=585901 The truck behaves like a rubber duck on water when doing the bends. It is fitted with a 350/3 speed auto combo that obviously influences ride height a bit. But hope someone can measure a "standard height" V8 truck to give me a better idea of where I should be and where I should be heading. I really like a bit of nose down rake. Plans are to keep to standard 6 lug, drum brake setup so no dropped spindles etc. And is still needs to to my teardrop. I am looking at replacing the shocks and springs when I repaint and strip down the truck. Brothers currently has 50% off on the lot. My truck parked up in the garage shows these measurements to the underside of the fenders. Front 27 1/4 Rear 26 1/2 on passenger side 26 on driver side Does anyone have the stock standard measurements for these truck front and rear please??

Measurements from the factory would depend on rim and tire size that were installed on the truck.
I agree with Keith, if you want stock height/stance just order stock springs/shocks.

I want it as it stands or even a touch lower. But need an idea on original height so that I know where I am now and where to head.

Re: Standard wheel arch height on a '66 Short Fleet?
It seams like someone on here from the most original trucks in existence thread could give you that measurement but instead I will try to help.
on a fleet side truck measuring from the bottom of the fender to the center of the hub. A 5 inch rear drop will equal 10.5 inches and in the front a 4.5 inch drop will equal 14 inches. I know this is not exactly what you wanted but hopefully it will help you calculate. |

Re: Standard wheel arch height on a '66 Short Fleet?
My truck is stock stance, but I'm running a 235/75R15 which is a little taller than the factory tire. I believe a 215 would be pretty close to stock tire...I can get numbers off either my fleet or stepside. Both are stock height and run the same tires size.
