I'm new to this forum, and restoring a 72 Jimmy 4x4 as a beach cruiser. Does anyone know if someone remanufactures the rear hatch supports? Does anyone have extras for sale? I have the passenger side and need the driver side, but I'd buy a pair if someone had them.

I've looked around, and there don't appear to be any reproductions.

I looked around too and couldn't find any repops. Maybe someone on here has a set to sell or knows of something that could be substituted.

That hatch is sort of heavy to hold up with your head while opning the tailgate.

I'll check into subscribing too.

I have a 1/2" dowel cut to length I keep in the back of mine.

They can be found but are a bit rare. Posting a want ad on the sale area definitely helps. I have two sets but don't want to part with them incase the set I have ever needs replacing.

I had a spare set tell a week or so ago when I bent one trying to drive out the garage with the top open

They are not cheap for a spare set once they do show up. Also make sure your hatch has the metal plate needed to screw them in, and is not cracked in that area.

Are they interchangeable right to left? I have a right side, need another or if not interchangeable I need a left side. I just had my hatch fiberglass repaired already and the plates are still in place, I just need a left side support.

I think they are interchangeable as they look the same but I could be wrong.
