Sycamore Trip /w My CST, Tranny Questions
Had a fun trip today to sycamore creek in the AZ heat. Finally have the truck running well enough that i could do some decent offroading, had a blast. Here are some pics.

If only i wouldve gone with a 400 instead of having mine rebuilt. Anything i should look at as far as a culprit? Possible cooling upgrade? |

Re: Sycamore Trip /w My CST, Tranny Questions
Higher stall converters produce more heat and need a better cooling system. So if you installed one and still have the stock in radiator trans cooler it's not gonna cool properly. If it's all stock I'd start looking at the in radiator cooler, maybe it's plugged. I'd also look and see if the shop(if you took it to a shop to have it all done) installed a inline filter, a lot of trans shops like to do that when they rebuild a trans that has sent chunks threw the cooler lines. The problem is then after a few miles it gets clogged and will cause problems like over heating. The correct way to clean all that stuff out is to clean the lines thourley and replace the cooler because you will never get all the stuff out of the cooler. Hope I helped ... Good luck.

Re: Sycamore Trip /w My CST, Tranny Questions
Well, really hot. Hot enough to make it act up and not work properly, doesnt wanna go into higher gears unless I really push it which I don't when its already hot. The drive out that way is uphill so that makes it harder. I thought there might be a problem with the cooling system but according to my old shop "its not overheating or anything" aka they were too lazy to look at it. My dash cluster needs rebuilding so my temp guage doesn't really work. No more long drives until i get that fixed, and the cooling system checked out.

Re: Sycamore Trip /w My CST, Tranny Questions
Is your kick down cable adjusted properly? Is your vacum line between the engine manifold and vacuum modulator on the trans in good shape? Is the vacuum modulator working? Problems with any of these things will prevent the tranny from downshifting under hard acceleration or WOT.
