Is this a stock or aftermarket fuel cell?
Its in a 1972 Blazer CST, PO had dropped in a 454 with a Quadrajet, but instead of a manual pump, there is an electric pump.
I am wondering if this is a factory fuel cell/tank or an aftermarket one. If so, is it larger than the stock 21 gallon or the same size? Will a stock fuel sender fit into this, or do I have to use something else? I am planning on converting back to a manual pump. Yes, I meant mechanical pump.
I want to go back to mechanical pump because I don't know how old the electric pump that is on the vehicle is and how much longer it will last. When I went to start the vehicle, the pump was running but not pushing fuel and I had to put gas in the tank to bring it up to a level where the pump was picking it up. The sender unit is not correct for the vehicle because my fuel gauge sticks at the 3 o'clock position but moves back and forth if you shake the vehicle. So, I figure, if I am going to change the tank, the sending unit, the hose and replace the electric pump anyways, I will just go back to the stock mechanical pump. $40 for a pump and $10 for the push rod works for me. |
