Which brake switch are LS guys using?
I'm reading the instructions on the harness I intend to buy and it requires a 2 way brake switch. I think most use a mechanical brake switch and not the plunger style. I don't see how the plunger style can be retrofitted.

Use one from a mid 80's C10, they have the switch with both a normaly open and a normaly closed circuit. It is a plunger style and should bolt in place of your old one.

This is something I'm having trouble picturing....how to mount the later model brake switch. I have a Watson mechanical brake switch right now which mounts to the firewall and has an arm on it so when the brake pedal is pushed, it lets tension off the arm. The plunger style wouldn't work with this and not sure how to make it work. Build some type of bracket? Any pics would help me a bunch.

new to the LS stuff....
educate me as to why the LS set up needs any feedback to or from the brakes. I have not planned on this at all. Thanks in advance |

oh...it needs it for the torque converter lock up.
"When using a 4L60E or 4L80E transmission you MUST have a two-position brake switch. These are necessary to allow proper function of the TCC. I used a 2000 Camaro brake switch in my 1966 GTO. It has two circuits, when the brake is depressed, the plunger extends - one circuit is energized and the brake lights come on, and the second circuit is interrupted, which causes the Torque converter to unlock (or, in my case, the cruise control to disengage - I have a six speed Manuel Tranny). Hope this helps.

if your using the stock brake switch and pedal it is very easy to add a relay into the circuit
i need this for the 700r4 and cruise control kick out

Also, if I read it right the OP is mounting the master cylinder under the floor, and most switches are not designed to live very long in a wet environment, so unless you plan to never drive the truck in the rain, you would be better off to use the lever switch that's made to be mounted under the truck and just wire in the relay for the TCC.

thanks for that info lsnova71, i do have a drain but i believe it is the security system, but you have me thinking...
my truk needs to run every 10 days or the battery will not start truk, again i think it's the alarm system but will look at the additional drain.
