sway bar ?
While I was at the wrecking yard the other day, I was pulling the rotors off of a 75 for my truck and noticed there was a front sway bar on the truck. Would that bar work on my 66? I should have pulled it but by the time I got what I needed I was grumpy and hot so I left it. I did notice it bolts to brackets that hang down from the frame and then to the lower control arms. I'll have to check my frame for the same mounts. Not sure if the 75 has the mounts welded or bolted to the frame.

Re: sway bar ?
You may have to drill holes in the lower a arms to mount it, but it should work barring previous damage. Check for heavy rust and make sure it is straight. Last thing you want is to mess up alignment due to bent sway bars

Re: sway bar ?
My arms already have the holes which is a good thing. The truck wasn't wrecked I guess it just gave up so the scrapped it. It looked really clean on the underside. I just need to find out how it bolts to the frame now. On the 75 it has a bracket that is either welded or bolted onto the bottom of the frame the the bar mounts to. My truck doesn't have that bracket and I don't know if I even need it. I'll have to go back next week and check it out.

Re: sway bar ?
OK got it figured out. Had to dig around in the search section for a couple hours but found the thread. I needed the lowered truck brackets. ECE wants $19 for the brackets and $19 for shipping! I went to classicperform.com and got them for $23 with shipping. Now I just need to go get the bar and find bushings. My truck is going to handle like a Vette!

Re: sway bar ?
Here is links to two very good threads about swaybars:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=72338 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=517255 When using FAQs you dont really have to do a search. Go to forums>1960-1966 Message Board>60-66 FAQ Index and then scrollaway until you find the blue link. Hope that helps. We want pics after install. |

Re: sway bar ?
Those are the mounts I ordered. I got them at CPP. I'll take pics for sure. I should be getting my LCA's Mon. or Tues. from powdercoaters and start putting this thing back together.

Re: sway bar ?
We just grabbed a mid 80's 1 ton dually Chevy swaybar and all brackets out of the junkyard, trimmed the brackets bit and welded them in where they fit best on the frame, LCA brackets were a bolt on...$20 for the bar and less for new bushings
