Inside dome light
Are any of you setting up a dome light to come on when you open the door like newer trucks do? How are you doing it and where did you buy it?
Thanks |

Re: Inside dome light
I kept the dome light and circuit stock. I added kick panel courtesy lights that are operated off of door switches using a relay set up for ground energizing. Look at this for how to make your dome work with the doors.

Re: Inside dome light
check my build. i believe your hinges could use a similar bracket
no relays used. power to dome light, ground thru headlight switch or door switches bracket. easy peasy 1x6x.125 steel with 2 holes looking up to the hinge w door open w door closed

Re: Inside dome light
If a standard door jam switch that was typically used on 68 and up trucks won't fit with out binding, try this switch (search 58-64 beetle). I used it on my burb 3rd door and the burb barn doors. Very cheap and works great. The ones in my bug have been working for over 50 years.

I got a couple of PM's of where to find the switch. Here's one of many on Ebay:
