Here's how I did it. I remover the original filler neck with heat removing the solder. I then bought a custom fuel tank filler neck (lot's of places sell them) and bolted it right over the original hole. I then installed a door in the floor of the bed. Easy enough. Pics:

Here is mine.

It was originally mounted in the same spot but straight to the bed floor with the original style gas cap but it wouldn't fill very well because of the pretty much immediate turn in the filler tube so we raised it to give it more filler tube before the turn. It now works great & will fill with a gas pump at full speed.

Re: how to fill a blazer tank in a truck?

I was wanting to do this same tank setup in my swb.
My thought was to move the gas fill door to a rear location like a Blazer or Suburban.
Any reason that wouldn't work?

You might have to notch the frame to get the fill tube out there? Not sure. I thought about the same thing then went the easy route.

Re: how to fill a blazer tank in a truck?

I'm planning of using a Blazer tank on my 81 c-10 swb and hide the filler behind one of the tail light assemblies. I've seen it done on the web before and I really want to try it but afraid I won't be able to pull it off since I'm fairly new to doing these types of mods. I can use all the help I can get.

Also subscribed. I had planned on using everything from a suburban.
