porter built A arms

Those with tubular arms what are you using for the lower shock mount? The only studs I can find have 1/2 threads where the stud mounts and the hole on the arm is drilled for a 7/16 bolt. If I drilled the hole out I'm afraid it wont leave much material left.

Re: porter built A arms

Something like this or call Porterbuilt,... they should have them.
I would drill the hole to 1/2".

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Shock-...tuds,5485.html

Shock mounting stud is approximately 3-5/8" in overall length.
The part where the shock rides, is 5/8" O.D. and approximately 1-1/4" wide and the threads at the shock end are 7/16"-20, about 7/8" long.
The threads at the bracket end are 1/2"-20, about 1-1/8" long.

Thank you lolife. Since I'm running 1" narrowed arms should I use shorter tie rod sleeves? I like the Edelbrock 5251 hex style.

I think I would just cut the outer tie rod down 1".
What year spindles and tie rods are you using?

The year of spindle, will determine the year of the tie rod sleeve and the tie rods.
What year spindles did you buy?

60-62
63-70
71-72
73-87

All take a different outer tie rod.

Re: porter built A arms

Does anyone know the thread pitch of the inner and outer tie rods on an 80's c10? I have been tossing around thw idea of using heim joints and building my own bump steer kit. Unless someone makes a bumpsteer kit I am not locating?
