'58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
Looking for the factory gap between the cab and the bed. The rear of he cab has two raised areas on the back of the cab that would hit the bed if pushed too close. Looking for that gap. In the photo below, the gap is hidden by the bed rail. In addition, I am looking for the vertical gap between the cab and the bed. See second photo. Thanks Dug

I can just stick my finger in to the gap on mine. Yours looks to be on the very close side.

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
Thanks. I will do a little more looking and set it sometime today to about a finger width. When I was a kid, I hit a pretty steep include with my '74 4WD GMC and I dented the back of the cab with the bed so I am aware that these things flex a bit. Don't intend to do that kind of driving now. Dug

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
Yours is way too close. I have my truck at work today and I got a few pics and a measurement for you. At the center of the cab to the front bed bulk head the gap is 1.25". Mine is on the original frame. Here are a couple pics.

Damn, that thing has a shine to it. This is perfect information. Thanks for taking the time to help. By the way, been enjoying the Big Bertha Build for quite some time. Keep it up. Dug

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
You probably will not be that hard on your truck but they were designed to flex and bend. So the cab and bed need the separation.

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
Agree. Since your setup is bone stock, assume you agree with Buggy5872 at 1.25"? Thx Dug

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
That sounds about right, I looked at some old photos of mine and it looks like it passed the hand test. Were I have it currently for body work is too close.

MTY: You will be welcome to them. I will be careful when extracting the piece(s) and let you have a look at them when I am finished. Dug

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
worked on the bed today. I moved mine all the way towards the rear. Here are pics of the clearance at the center of the cab, bed seam and towards the bottom.

Re: '58 - '59 Fleetside Cab to Bed Gap?
OrrieG: This is encouraging! I will push my bed up a bit to these dimensions and see what it does. Got the front clip and cab leveled which sets me up for the final positioning of the bed. Perfect timing. Thanks for taking the time to do this. dug
