New guy here

Hello all, my name is Bryan. Just picked up a driver quality 1970 SWB GMC with what appears to be a 1967 or 68 grille and hood.

Re: New guy here

First two options are torn off but it is a Sierra Grande CST. Originally Hugger Orange but now sports a 20 footer satin black. Any way I can find out what the missing options are? Any guess?

Hi Bryan,

Welcome to the board, nice truck you have there! It appears that the entire front clip from a '68 Chevy was used on your truck, a very popular swap. Grill, hood, front fenders and radiator core support and maybe inner fenders all get swapped. When you can, post more pics of your truck!

Re: New guy here

Well the fenders would be the same from 68 chev or GMC so it could be just a hood and grille and rad support or even the rad support with the two inner light buckets taken off[but I think the lamp location is a little different]Anyway it is a nice truck and I do love a Hugger orange. I am building three One 68 GMC and two 70 Chevrolet's. I own a body shop and have been building wrecks since the late 80's. If you need any help along that line post um up and I'll be glad to help. Thanks Jim. I'm hoping to paint this truck once I get a few other projects done. I painted my dads Harley last year and now I've got the fever for it. Got a Mustang and a Jeep to practice on first.

I am troubled with the panel alignment on this truck. Lt ft tire seems to set in about an inch more than the right. I noticed it while researching rim backspacing.

The fender to door gaps seem fine to me, but the hood to fender gaps aren't. on the drivers side, the fender to hood gap at the cowl seems excessive

here is the drivers side hood to fender gap at the grille

I am thinking whoever put this front clip on didn't line things up correctly.

here is a pic of the inner fenders. the passenger side seems much closer to the frame than the drivers side.

What do you think?

Re: New guy here

Has me thinking the core support need to be shifted to toward the passenger side and an inch or so.

Re: New guy here

I love the satin black look. I have a 88 LeSabre T-Type painted like that. Link in signature.
