It varied by assembly plant but we started dipping pickups in Flint around '78 or '79. The equipment was installed and functioning right before I started.

Line 2 (Blazer and Suburban) was a little before that.

It had a very distinctive smell. You could smell it as you drove by on I-69 or I-75.
