I apologize for thread jacking: ogre, I'm wondering since you've got hydroboost expierence, how hard do you think it would be to mount to the fire wall? I've already got a firewall mounted pedal assembly from classic parts. Im currently running 7" dual diaphragm booster. It has hard time stopping 35's. I've got hydroboost on my k2500 and it stops 35's without much issue. So I've been contemplating this swap for a while now. Any insight would be awesome.

I know this thread is fairly old, but I am wondering if I can get some info. I have a 50 chevy truck with two master cylinders reverse mounted under the dash and do not have a lot of stopping power. I am thinking that a hydrovac (or 2) that can be mounted under the cab may be what I need. I have done some searches for hydrovacs and see that the pictures of some units have a rod that looks like it would attach to the brake petal, what is this for, and are there units that have only vacuum and brake line connections.

There are a few different models of smaller Hydrovac. The Bendix units like pictured above are original and somewhat hard to find. There are slightly smaller units used in one ton trucks and motorhomes with Dodge and GM chassis in the '70s and '80s and somewhere around the house I have a part number for one.
I can only hope your masters are front/rear split and not left/right split. Hydrovacs apply when the primary circuit from the master builds pressure but they are dependent on brake adjustment also. If your brakes are mismatched, then a dual master / dual hydrovac unit might give uneven braking. Hydrovacs can be very expensive to buy new or reman. Here's a page that has several. Thanks for the info, 1project2many. I do have front rear split on the master cylinders. I am going to try some other tings to see if I can get just manual brakes acceptable. Can hydrovac be used on front only, or would that cause too much brake imbalance?

Don't use front only with boost. I've seen that done on a C60 once. The truck was very tough to drive.

Thanks for the help. You mentioned hydroboost, do these units all go between the brake pedal and master. I have my master cylinders under the dash so don't have room to add anything.

Yes, the Hydroboost booster is between the pedal and master. It doesn't work with all master, though.
