non power MC for disc drum
My truck is at the shop for brake lines, steering shaft shortening and final check before I start driving it. I put on front disc brakes from a 85. I picked up a MC and booster for a 70-72 Impala. I got thinking the other day that my cam might be too big to have power brakes. I will have the brake guy check the vacuum in the morning when I swing by after work. If it isn't making enough vacuum, what MC should I use? I need a two pot manual disc/drum MC. I will keep the Impala set up for when I do a motor swap next year.

Any 71/72 truck MC should work as long as you have the proportioning valve for the front disks. I think it is pretty much a bolt in replacement when not using the booster.
I have also see folks use the 73-87 style hydroboost off the 3/4 & 1 ton trucks.

Re: non power MC for disc drum
You can use a '71-'87 manual brake master cylinder. Or another trip to Pull And Save for a hydroboost.

Re: non power MC for disc drum
I hope I have enough vacuum. lol If not I might go with hydroboost and save the MC/booster for another truck down the road. But to get it on the road I will go with non power for the rest of this year. Thanx for the help!

72 vette 1" manual master cylinder $24.00 at rockauto.com , direct bolt on and stops on a dime.

Re: non power MC for disc drum
I kept the original M/C with my truck. Works great! Then again, I'm using McGaughy discs, so that may be part of it.

Re: non power MC for disc drum
I had the single pot MC and those things are unsafe. And I want the truck to be safe and comfy.

Re: non power MC for disc drum
Did you find out yet if your engine produces enough vacuum for a vacuum booster? I have my doubts with that big cam, but thought I'd ask.
