adjusting a turbo 400 kickdown switch?
hey fellas, when I got this truck last year. it didn't have a KD switch.
didn't notice it missing till last week. im installing it right now. my question is. should I adjust it to kickdown before or after the secondary's kick in on my holley? I ran out of time today. tomorrow ill 'pick back up', at it. by the way. I wasn't comfortable about a 12v source sitting right below n down wind of my carb. so I used my old throttle cable and relocated it to a safer area. any help I sure would appreciate! larry |

Elaborate set up.
Have it kick in when your primary is wide open since you have a vac secondary carb. |

Re: adjusting a turbo 400 kickdown switch?
No project needed. If you're just stroking the throttle the secondaries might not move at all. THey open initially a tiny bit with the drop in vacuum but then rely on air flow thru the carb to get them to open all the way. The spring inside controls how soon they start to open.

Re: adjusting a turbo 400 kickdown switch?
I was looking inside the primarys side. I released the return spring. I put some weight on the peddle.
I looked inside the carb only at the front butterflys. I have a rod style linkage. not sure what adjustment can even be made to fix that. maybe redrilling a little higher and further away on the carb braket to change the geometry. dony know. weekends over for now. |

I see what you mean.
Higher would work. Or unclip the rod at the firewall bracket and screw the rod into the coupler. |
