Rocker Panels Woes
I have a problem with my DS door shutting properly and believe that the PO didnt brace the door when replacing the rocker panels. I was thinking about removing the panels and trying to expand the door opening. Is there any documentation of the proper door gap? Im not sure if expanding it will cause other issues? Does anyone have experience with this type of repair?

Re: Rocker Panels Woes
You may check your body mounts. Worn out body mounts will cause the body to sag enough to cause the doors not to shut or open.

Re: Rocker Panels Woes
I had actually replaced all the body mounts before removing the top as a precaution. It really hasn't made any difference with the door closing properly.

Re: Rocker Panels Woes
You may need to shim under some of the mounts to tweak the fit.....the factory manual specs the door opening dimension at ± .020
That's how they tweaked them to fit properly at the factory. I think the factory assembly manual shows how much to shim, and where to shim, to alter the opening dimensions. |

Re: Rocker Panels Woes
make sure you don't have excessive play in the door hinges, and rebuild the hinges if you do, before working on anything else!
