Smile Rethinking future LS swap

I am planning on doing an LS swap in my 67 stepper down the road and really want to do a LQ4 or LQ9. But now I am rethinking the build.

The guys over at Powder Nation show what can be had out of a junk yard 4.8. Man was I impressed. My SBC 283 cant even get close to those numbers.

The base LS engine is pretty much the same engine for whatever size you buy.
The power they make stock is way better than the old short blocks ever thought about being.
Look at it like this. If the 4.8 can do that what would the LQ9 do with the same mods?

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Nice read, bro! I have also been looking @ the 6.0? My 69 runs a 5.3 (carbureted)...man ,she is a sweet ride! Bigger, is always better tho? Build it , with the 4.8.....then drop that .030 over 6.0....a little cam+ head prep/camshaft. Now you are knockin on the 500 HP door. That big mill, will pull it from way on the bottom? Longhorn

Yeah I have always wonder if bigger is better too? I have seen some 5.3 with a little work make some big numbers.

How much power do we need to have in our C10 to make them really move?

That is a loaded question.

I started with a forged 347 with some bottle.

Now I have a 418" with even more bottle ability. Should have enough power to go in the 8's at more than 150mph once sorted out.

Yet I have twin 67's that might find there way on the truck making even more power requiring even more safety stuff than I have today.

Those are great videos. I have always wondered what a 4.8l build up was capable of. It seems like people often over look these and go straight to a 5.3l or 6.0l. It was very well thought out and had a couple of good tips for doing some of the upgrades. Thanks for posting that.
