Hey C10, if you lower your truck, dont forget pinion angles. If you have a standard gmc, you probably have leaf springs and a dana 44 rear end with 354 gears. My pinion seal leaks and it runs about 600 bucks for bearing and seal job.
BTW, I have 8 leafs which im guessing was a heavy half ton.

Before you spend 600 bucks on a repair of a almost 50 year old rear end. go buy the front crossmember with the disk brakes from a 73 up and the 73 up rear end. and it will pretty much bolt in. and you can get any rear gear ratio you wish.
