Panel truck windows
Just wondering if panel trucks were ever offered with side windows, from the factory or dealer installed? I have seen several pictures on the Internet of these trucks with all different combinations of windows on the passenger side of the truck. Mine also has two side windows which look like they were professionally installed.

Re: Panel truck windows
A Panel got its name because they came as solid panels. If it's not a Suburban, then it is a panel that someone (dealer, pro install shop, private party) installed and now devalued an original panel truck, IMHO. Every time I see a panel truck with windows cut in it, a little piece of me just died.... LOL Want windows, by a burb!

Re: Panel truck windows
I totally agree about the ridiculousness of adding windows to an ultra rare FACTORY 4X4 panel truck like this . That is what makes me believe that this was done at a dealership many years ago when the truck wasn't really worth anything.

Re: Panel truck windows
an "ultra rare factory 4 x 4". I imagine that you are going to get rich from the ultra part?
these were built as working vehicle and I would imagine if one wanted a little more visibility in those days windows were installed.I don't imagine that the thought of devaluing the vehicle came up then. guess they didn't think that any whacko would be doing to them what they are now. The old man thought I was nuts playing around with cars back in the early 60's. Glass shops would install them. those were in mine when I bought it 25 years ago. ron |

Re: Panel truck windows
Like ron says, these were working trucks. I don't know if panels were the cheapest to buy compared to a pu. bench seats could be installed along the sides and used to transport fire-fighters--loggers etc to remote sites, and a little more light shinning in would have been nice.

Re: Panel truck windows
That's what I meant by my comment padre, the modification was obviously done at a time when the truck wasn't considered a classic. And I know the rarity of 4x4 panels but no I do not intend to "get rich off that fact"-whatever that is supposed to mean.

Re: Panel truck windows
If you look in my signature below, there is a link to my Picasa pictures. Look around and you'll find a 63 panel brochure. Look further and you'll find a 63 Silver Book which will show suppliers of windows for panels that you could order with your new Panel. I'd post them but using the company smart phone and I'm not that smart, ask Ron. Lol one day Ron I promise.
On my way to Neenah on Thursday.
